Our Work

At CASA of West Central Louisiana, our work centers on giving children in foster care a strong, consistent voice in court. Every day, our volunteers stand beside children in foster care, giving them a voice in the courtroom and in the community. Through compassion, commitment, and collaboration, we help ensure children find safe, permanent homes where they can heal and thrive.

A Consistent Voice in Court

CASA volunteers dedicate their time to truly getting to know each child they serve. They listen to the child’s story, gather information from everyone involved in the case, review records, and connect with case workers, teachers, and families. With this knowledge, they present thoughtful recommendations to the court, recommendations that often make a life-changing difference. Judges rely on CASA volunteers for their unbiased perspective and advocacy, ensuring every decision is made with the child’s best interests at heart.

The role of a CASA

CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to advocate for children’s best interests and remain by their side until their case is closed and a safe, permanent home is found. They are independent voices who thoroughly investigate each child’s unique circumstances and make recommendations to the court with the child’s best interests in mind. Volunteers collaborate with legal and child welfare professionals, educators, and service providers to ensure judges have the most complete information possible. Our goal is to provide children with stability and support during one of the most challenging times in their lives.

Equipped to Make a Difference

While CASA volunteers come from all walks of life, they share one thing in common: a passion for helping children. To prepare them for this important work, CASA of West CenLA provides extensive training led by professionals in the child welfare and legal fields. Volunteers are supported every step of the way by our staff, ensuring they feel confident, informed, and empowered throughout each case. With guidance and encouragement, our volunteers never stand alone as they advocate for a brighter future for children.

It Takes a Community

Advocacy doesn’t happen in isolation—it takes an entire community standing together. If becoming a volunteer isn’t possible right now, you can still play an important role in helping children. Whether through financial contributions, attending events, or spreading awareness, your support strengthens our mission. Together, we can ensure that every child in Beauregard and Vernon Parishes has the chance to grow up in a safe and nurturing home.
